Spanish Program at Saint Luke School
The Spanish Program at Saint Luke School is specifically geared to our Junior High students. The program is designed to introduce the students to the Spanish language as well as Spanish culture. Classes revolve around learning to pronounce, spell and read simple vocabulary. Students are also taught how to exchange simple greetings. Classroom instruction is two fold; students learn to read and comprehend the Spanish language, and they also learn how to correctly pronounce words and carry on a basic conversation. Assessments are given on a regular basis and are based on written and verbal skills. Exploration into the Spanish culture includes a taste of Spanish cuisine and an exposure to various types of Spanish and Latin music. Students are also taught simple Salsa and Merengue steps.
The philosophy at Saint Luke School is to expose our students to the many cultures of our world. The Spanish Program is just one component of exposure. Learning a foreign language fosters a sense of self confidence and accomplishment.
